UNICEF Pakistan | Polio Eradication
Building the knowledge, confidence and tools for trusted community influencers to support polio vaccination.
Context
Polio eradication efforts depended not only on access to vaccines, but also on public trust, accurate information and the influence of people communities already listened to. Radio professionals, community activists and other local influencers needed stronger knowledge, practical engagement tools and greater confidence to address misconceptions and support vaccination.

What I did
Conceptualized program for radio professionals and community activists.
Designed the learning journey to move participants from knowledge and awareness to attitude change, strategy development and practical application.
Developed tools for community mobilization, effective dialogue, radio programming, message development and local advocacy.
Worked with vendors to created the accompanying Speak for Child Health training guidebook and an online space for continued interaction, peer learning and motivation.
Outcome
A structured capacity-building approach that equipped trusted influencers to communicate more effectively about child health and polio, engage communities around concerns and misinformation, and support local behaviour-change efforts. Approach was scaled to other regions.
Work completed while serving with UNICEF Pakistan’s Polio Eradication programme.
